Nick Martin is an artist originally from Edinburgh, now living and working on the Isle Of Wight. Nick is a portrait painter who also works on large scale collage pieces like this amazing image of Edinburgh. It's a bird's eye view of the New Town and beyond, as seen from a vantage point above Edinburgh Castle.
The image began as a sketch from memory, before Nick slowly added details over repeated visits to the city to refresh his memories of Auld Reekie. Working from the top of the image down, it took many many hours of meticulous work to build up the layers of nuance that form the complete image.
The panorama takes in the Castle ramparts and the One O'Clock Gun, across New Town rooftops and city landmarks, and out to the Firth Of Forth, the Bridges, and across to the Lomond Hills in Fife.
This print of the original collage of Edinburgh captures the intricate and time consuming effort that has gone into this artwork. The original work is on display in the head office of Edinburgh Fund Managers Baillie Gifford; all of the reproductions are high quality giclée prints on linen paper.
As an Edinburgh native, Nick has shopped with Paper Tiger for decades, and he had us in mind for the exclusive, numbered, limited edition print - in fact the original collage uses papers that Nick originally bought in our shop!
Prints will be sent unframed in a poster tube.
