Happy Christmas From Paper Tiger Posted on 24 Dec 14:14

As we head into the final few days of December trading, I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for all the good things that have happened to us in 2024.

Firstly, I am grateful for the amazing team of people who work for me! The whole team are committed to delivering shopping experiences that are the best on the High Street. They work incredibly hard to ensure the shops look inviting by creating interesting and innovative displays, and showcasing products from our fantastic suppliers. Through the course of the year they look after tens of thousands of customers in the shops and online, celebrating occasions, family and friends, achievements, anniversaries, weddings, births, marking the landmarks of our lives. It is a responsibility we take seriously. They take their job seriously, and they work hard to make your shopping experience better.

Secondly, we cannot do what we do without the support of our wonderful customers. We know we have customers on our doorstep, and customers from around the world who visit Edinburgh each year; we are grateful to you all for your support. Some of you shop with us online from afar and have never visited our shops, but trust our reputation and our range of products. Some of you will have been shopping with us for decades. Wherever you are, and however you came to find us, thank you for your custom!

Thirdly, those fantastic suppliers that we work with also take their role very seriously. We work with businesses of all shapes and sizes, from back room illustrators on our doorstep to huge multinational publishers with offices around the planet. ‘Suppliers’ is such a bland word for the people we have worked with over the past twelve months and the last forty three years. They are illustrators, authors, makers, designers, manufacturers, inventors, and geniuses - and they are very talented. They also share a number of common values that are essential for a business like Paper Tiger. They all have a commitment to good design, and they create well made and thoughtful products using quality materials. They are not running a side hustle; they take their own business seriously. At Paper Tiger we curate and consider the products that we sell very carefully to ensure that they are fit for purpose, and do what you need them to do.

Whether you are part of the team, one of our customers or one of our suppliers, you make Paper Tiger roar!

We were thrilled to open our new Stockbridge shop this year, bringing the Paper Tiger experience to a new Edinburgh neighbourhood! The Morningside shop will be two years old in 2025, and this expansion, along with the continued success of our website and our city centre shops in Stafford Street and Lothian Road has allowed us to connect with even more customers across Scotland and the UK. In fact, if you all lived in one place, our Paper Tiger customers would form the fourth biggest city in Scotland!

From the bustling energy of our shop floors, to the heartwarming messages shared through our cards, it's been a year filled with connection and joy. We've celebrated new beginnings with baby cards, shared laughter with humorous designs, and commemorated milestones with heartfelt words. It's been a joy to see our carefully curated selection of cards, stationery and gifts resonate with so many of you.

Looking ahead to Hogmanay and 2025, we're filled with optimism for a Happy New Year of meaningful connections. In a digital world, the simple act of sending a card remains a powerful way to show you care. It's a simple, tangible and personal expression of love and support that brightens the day and strengthens our bonds of friendship and family.

Thank you for being a part of the Paper Tiger story this year. We couldn't do it without you.
Here's to a Happy Christmas filled with connection, appreciation, and the joy of sending heartfelt greetings.

With love and gratitude,
Michael & The Paper Tiger Team
