Help save dolphins and porpoises with the limited edition 4Ocean dolphin bracelet Posted on 14 Dec 10:42
There is an estimated sixteen billion pounds of plastic going into our oceans every year and 4Ocean are funding a clean-up by the sales of their 4Ocean Bracelet. This global movement pulls a pound of trash from our ocean and our coastline each time a bracelet is purchased. Every month they dedicate a limited edition bracelet to an environmental cause and this month it for dolphins and porpoises who are threatened with extinction.
The population of dolphins and porpoises in our oceans are sadly diminishing in numbers and unfortunately in some instances they are near extinction. Currently, 25% of dolphin species and one in six species of porpoise are threatened with extinction. These levels of threat are compounded by the fact that currently ten percent of both dolphins and porpoises are found to have swallowed plastic from the ocean.
The level of danger for dolphins and porpoises is increased by a process called biomagnification. This means that the plastic consumed by the fish that dolphins and porpoises consume concentrates the toxins on each consumption. So dolphins are digesting all of the plastic toxins that have built up in the species that they consume.
4Ocean are working with Sea Shepherd Conservation Society to help save dolphins and porpoises with the sale of their 4ocean dolphin bracelet. If you would like to support the 4Ocean global movement to remove trash from the ocean and coastlines, then please buy a 4Ocean bracelet: 4Ocean Bracelet
